ABOUT AMAZING PROPERTIES OF CORNFLOWER
There are many legends about cornflower. One of them - the ancient Greek legend tells us about the wise centaur Chiron, who was famous for the ability to heal with herbs. When Hercules wounded him with a poisoned arrow, he recovered from his wound with the help of cornflower. That’s why the scientific name of this plant is Centaurea cyanus – Centaurus Flower. And "tsianus", which means - blue. Since ancient times cornflower is cultivated as a medicinal and ornamental plant.
BENEFITS OF CORNFLOWER
Cornflower contains the following vitamins - A, C, flavonoids, coumarins, cyanine, polysaccharides, tannins, essential oil, bitter substances, potassium, calcium, magnesium, iron and copper. Cornflower remedies have antimicrobial, disinfectant, diuretic, choleretic, antispasmodic, diaphoretic, astringent and toning properties. Traditional medicine uses this plant to treat the diseases of the stomach, liver, gallbladder, kidney, urinary tract, pyelitis, cystitis, urethritis, colds, acute respiratory diseases, cough, whooping cough, fever, rapid heartbeat, nerve disorder, headache, eye strain.
CORNFLOWER TEA
Pour 1 teaspoon of crushed dried flowers with 1 cup of boiling water. Brew for half an hour, drain. Take ¼ of cup 4 times a day before meals.
CORNFLOWER IN COSMETICS
Cornflower flowers have been used for a long time in traditional cosmetics. Cornflower infusions are used for washing eyes. Lotions are used to cure eczema and abrasions. Compress relieves irritation, fatigue, making the skin softer and smoothing eye wrinkles.
CORNFLOWER DECOCTION
Pour 1 tsp. of dried flowers with 1 cup of boiling water. Leave for 20 minutes, drain. Soak a cheesecloth, folded in several layers in a decoction and apply on the skin for 15-20 minutes. Then wash up with water.
CORNFLOWER MASK
Pour 1 tbsp. of flowers with ¼ cup of water. Boil it and simmer for 5 minutes. Drain. Add milled oat-flakes and 1 teaspoon of honey, mix. Apply on face for 10-15 minutes. Wash up with water.
CORNFLOWER LOTION
Pour 1 tbsp. of cornflowers with 1 cup of boiled water. Brew for half an hour. Strain and add 1 tbsp. of eau de cologne.
CORNFLOWER UNDER-EYE LOTION
Pour 1 tbsp. of dried flowers with ¼ cup of olive oil. Keep in a dark place for 1 week. Filter the lotion and use to soothe your skin, especially under eyes.
CORNFLOWER INFUSION FOR INFLAMED EYELIDS
Pour ½ tsp. of cornflower with ½ cup of boiled water. Brew for 20 minutes. Drain. Apply the soaked in the infusion cotton balls on eyelids for 15-20 minutes. (Use the same infusion for hair loss and dandruff. Rub it into the scalp for all night).
CORNFLOWER INFUSION FOR GREASY HAIR
Pour 1 tbsp. dried cornflower with 2 cups of boiling water, leave for 40 minutes. Wash your hair 2 times a week. The recommended course consists of 15 procedures.
